Total Bilirubin Test

The Total Bilirubin Test measures the overall level of bilirubin in your blood, which includes both direct (conjugated) and indirect (unconjugated) bilirubin. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment produced when the body breaks down old red blood cells.

Why it's done

To check for jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes)
To evaluate liver function
To help diagnose liver diseases, bile duct obstruction, or hemolytic anemia
To monitor liver health during treatment
